I. INTRODUCTION (Purpose and Intent)
The purpose of this policy is to insure that all University personnel, students and departments understand that the University has a drug-free workplace policy prohibiting the unlawful manufacture, distribution, possession or use of alcohol or controlled substances.
II. STATEMENT OF POLICY

In order to comply with Federal law, the
statute conviction for a violation occurring in the workplace no later than
five (5) days after such conviction. The Division of Sponsored Research must
notify any Federal contracting agency within ten (10) days of having received
notice that an employee engaged in the performance of such contract or grant
has had a criminal drug statute conviction for a violation occurring in the
workplace. The University will discipline any employee who is so convicted
and/or require the employee's satisfactory participation in a drug abuse
assistance or rehabilitation program.
Under provisions of Chapter 90-226, Laws of Florida, Section 775.16, Florida Statutes, a person who has been convicted in Florida during or since October 1990 of a drug-related felony is disqualified from obtaining employment at USF unless he/she provides proof of completion of all sentences of imprisonment or supervisor/probation sanctions imposed by the court, by the Parole Commission or by Law. This law applies to all applicants including faculty, Administration, Staff and Temporary.
