AUTOMATED LEAVE TRACKING
SYSTEM
The
Automated Leave Tracking System (ALT) at USF is designed to facilitate
the ease, efficiency and accuracy for managing the entire leave process
for employees in leave-accruing positions at the University.
ALT
manages leave requests, leave approvals, accrual of leave earned, and
the recording of leave taken, in order to maintain accurate leave
balances, run departmental reports and facilitate the annual compensated
absences report process.
Benefits of the Automated Leave Tracking System:
-
Manages all
leave types currently available (i.e., annual, sick, comp time,
personal holidays, sick leave pool, administrative, FMLA, workers’
comp/disability), except unpaid leave.
-
Displays leave
balances on GEMS Self Service for employees to view
-
Replaces the paper
leave request and approval process
-
Calculates leave
automatically
-
Tracks overtime
comp and special comp
-
Manages more than
one type of leave in the same pay period
-
Carries forward
leave balances at the end of the calendar year automatically (in
accordance with University procedures)
-
Allows employees to
take only leave available to them
-
Will eliminate the
need to do the compensated absence report after July 2005
-
Allows tracking for
FMLA
The
employee, supervisor and the attendance & leave coordinators all have a
responsibility and role in the process. Complete information and
procedures are detailed below.
It is
important to note that ALT works in conjunction with all current
Attendance & Leave procedures, and these should be reviewed on a
periodic basis by those with responsibilities for ensuring compliance
with any and all Attendance & Leave procedures at the University.
