Spouse Program

Employees with spouses who work for a State agency (including employees of the State University Systems) are eligible to enroll in the spouse program for health insurance. This provides the health insurance at no cost to the employees—provided they are both in full-time, benefits eligible positions. Part-time employees would have pro-rated premiums. Please note, depending on the FTE for the part-time employee, it may be advantageous to enroll in regular family coverage rather than the Spouse Program as the premiums may be lower.

To enroll, each spouse needs to contact the People First Service Center and complete a Spouse Program Enrollment Form: all eligible dependents must be listed on the form. A copy of the marriage license must be attached to the enrollment form when it is submitted to the People First Service Center. Both spouses must enroll in the same health plan.

If either spouse becomes ineligible for the Spouse Program, the People First Service Center must be contacted within 31 days.
