INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING USPS TIME SHEET
NOTE: Attendance and Leave documents are official records. Please type or use black or blue ink only.
1. Complete the top portion of the time sheet with (a) employee's name, (b) social security number, (c) beginning and ending dates of the pay period, (d) class code, (e) indicate if the employee is in a non-exempt or exempt class, (f) FTE (e.g.: 100% or 50% appointment) (g) department name, (h) account number from which the employee's salary is paid, and (i) if the employee is a member of the USPS Sick Leave Pool.
2. Enter the total number of actual hours worked for the day in "DAILY HOURS WORKED" column. (This does not include any leave time used with or without pay.)
3. If the employee did not physically work, use the reference table below to describe what type of leave was used and the number of hours used to bring the employee up to 40 hours for the week. Enter the information in the "LEAVE WITH PAY" column. If holiday time or administrative leave is used, please provide the name of the holiday or the purpose of the leave where indicated on the front of the time sheet.

4. Enter the sum of all hours for which the employee is to be compensated in the "TOTAL DAILY HOURS" column.
5. Enter the hours to be paid at straight time in the "REGULAR PAY HOURS" column, not to exceed 40 hours for the workweek.
6. After 40 hours has been reached for the workweek, enter any regular, special and/or overtime compensatory time earned in the "COMPENSATORY LEAVE EARNED" column. Regular and Overtime Compensatory leave is not earned on a daily basis, but after 40 hours have been worked. Special Compensatory leave is earned when required to work on a holiday or holiday falls on employee's regular day off, or when employee is required to work during an emergency closing to provide essential services. Using the reference table above, indicate the kind of compensatory leave earned.
7. When overtime has been worked during the workweek, enter the number of actual hours worked over 40 in the "OVERTIME PAID" column if the overtime is to be paid. If not, enter the hours in the "COMP TIME EARNED" column with the notation OTC. In order for you to be paid for overtime, your leave coordinator must complete an Overtime Report and submit it to Payroll. Refer to Attendance & Leave COMPASS Procedure .
8. Enter "TOTAL" in the appropriate columns at the end of each weekly period.
9. Check the time sheets for the appropriate signatures of the employee and supervisor.
