Open Houses and Interviews
Semi-finalists for internship positions will be selected in
mid-December and will be invited to attend one of several
open houses during the month of January. This year, open house
dates have been scheduled for
January 9 and 12, 2009. Candidates
will be notified of their status by email on or before December
15, 2008 and invited to select an open house date. These
open houses, scheduled from 8:30 a.m. until about 3:00 p.m.
, include an opportunity to meet with the Director of Training
and most of the training staff. A luncheon with the current
interns is provided. During the day, each candidate will have
an opportunity to participate in a personal interview with
one or more members of the Training Committee. .

In making a decision
as important as planning the internship year, candidates
often find it very helpful to visit prospective internship
sites. While we encourage invited candidates to attend
an open house, we recognize that not everyone will be able
to do so as a result of scheduling conflicts and/or financial
considerations. Thus, semi-finalists who are unable to
visit will be invited to participate in a telephone interview
with one or more professional staff members and a current
intern.
Notification
The Counseling Center follows all guidelines established
by the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship
Centers (APPIC) and will be participating in the APPIC
Internship Matching Program. All applicants must register
for the Matching Program in order to be eligible for an
internship in our agency. This internship site agrees to
abide by the APPIC match policy that no person at this
training facility will solicit, accept or use any ranking-related
information from any intern applicant.
