Academic Computing

Academic Computing provides computing services and resources in direct support of instruction and research. Acts as an advocate in establishing the computing environment appropriate for USF's academic community. Operates and supports the facilities required to generate this environment.

Center for 21st Century Teaching Excellence was established to promote personal reflection and scholarly dialogue on the art, science and craft of university teaching.The Center sponsors publications, workshops, and research which critically examine and promote instructional excellence.

Educational Outreach oversees the largest distance and distributed learning program in Florida with approximately 14,700 enrollments in more than 300 courses offered annually. Educational Outreach provides comprehensive distance learning and instructional technology support services for faculty engaged in both synchronous and asynchronous distance learning classes university-wide including those on USF's regional campuses. Services include but are not limited to: helping faculty integrate instructional technologies into teaching and learning, web development of credit and non-credit courses and programs, instructional design and consultation for all distance-learning options, multimedia development of digital learning objects to enhance course content, and instructional audiovisual support. Educational Outreach also assists faculty in connecting with global research opportunities through distance learning.

Florida Center for Instructional Technology participates in University wide collaborative efforts to assist all faculty at USF. Drawing on our strengths in Instructional Technology, we provide many skill building and informative workshops on the uses of technology for teaching and learning. We also mentor and assist any faculty member at USF that requests our help. This is accomplished with a team consisting of five Graduate Assistants lead by the Director of VITAL Services for FCIT.

Health Sciences Center Information Services provide timely quality service to all of their customers within the Health Sciences Center, by prudent utilization of available resources for the purposes of: Providing for access while protecting the security and integrity of their networks, applications, and data. Prudently pursuing new technologies and new horizons. Practicing continuous improvement. Remaining responsive to the evolving needs of the HSC community.

The USF Libraries Web page ( http://www.lib.usf.edu/ ) provides a single access collection point for electronic resources and services for the University of South Florida. Comprised of indexes, reference material, online government documents, online full text journals, magazines, newspapers, and media, the USF Libraries' world-class electronic collection is accessible remotely to all USF currently-enrolled students, faculty, and staff. Many library services such as interlibrary loan, book renewals, and reference, are also available electronically. WUSF-TV is an important outreach arm of the University of South Florida that serves the residents of Florida's west coast. The station provides educational and learning technology services to the 15th largest market in the country and is a leader in developing interactive multi-media learning courseware and two-way educational teleconferences.
