Time Management Matters

The Upside of Time Management

  • You learn better and will be better able to remember what you learn. When you cram the night before an exam, you remember just enough to take the test. Chances are, you aren't going to remember the material after the exam is over. You reviewed the information enough to get it into short-term memory, but not enough to get it into long-term memory. That may be okay in some cases, but what if you have a cumulative exam? Then you will have to relearn the material. Also, if you can't remember the information from your classes, you will be behind in future classes that rely on that information.
  • You work towards your goals more efficiently and effectively. You can be sure you are doing what needs to be done to accomplish what you desire.
  • You experience less stress. When you have figured out when you are going to get things done, you don't have to worry about those things. You know you have time to do them.
  • You have more fun! You schedule in time to have fun, to socialize, to exercise, to recharge your batteries. Taking care of yourself is very important and managing your time can help you to do so.
