Video Gaming

Anyone who plays video games would be considered a "gamer". Students often play a few games in between classes, at the end of a day, and during the weekend. It's a great way to kick back, relax, and enjoy some time socializing with friends. But if often say, "One more game," and put off classwork, gaming could be a problem for you.

According to the Center for Internet Addiction, warning signs for video game addiction include:

  • Playing for increasing amounts of time
  • Thinking about gaming during other activities
  • Gaming to escape from real-life problems, anxiety, or depression
  • Lying to friends and family to conceal gaming
  • Feeling irritable when trying to cut down on gaming

If you feel that you rely heavily on video games for your entertainment, consider connecting with other students in the outside world. USF offers more than 500 student organizations. Find them at the Marshall Student Center. You can bike, swim, workout, walk, run or play intramurals through the Campus Rec Center.
